YAMAMIZU SHIPPING CO.,LTD. was founded in March 1953 as a shipbroker house, mainly for handling grain cargoes bound to Japan from the U.S.A., Canada and Australia.
Since its foundation the Company has expanded its business, diversifying into a wider range of shipbroking activities to include coal, iron ore and other bulk cargoes, as well as automobiles, to the extent that it has now established a leading position in the transportation of all these commodities.
In addition, Yamamizu is playing an active role in time-chartering business, covering not only domestic, but also the major maritime markets worldwide, on a 24 hours basis. Since 2001, sales and purchases are part of our activities.
A brief analysis shows that 648 contracts were fixed in 2007 ,680 contracts in 2008 and 659 contracts in 2009.
In 1996, The Baltic Exchange in London invited Yamamizu to join as a Baltic Freight Index panellist (Yamamizu was the first panellist in the Pacific/Indian Ocean water). 1997 saw Yamamizu partner with H. Clarkson London to act as their sales partner to promote/handle Forward Freight Agreement in the japanese shipping circles.
The steady growth that the Company has enjoyed over the past fifty years owes as much to the hearty support of its customers and world-wide business associates as it does to the dedication and expertise of all its own employees.
